From the Flight Deck Live – A GA Pilot Workshop

The FAA invites GA pilots to join a spring surface safety workshop on March 22, 2023, at 12:30 pm ET. During this event, FAA Acting Administrator Billy Nolen, GA industry reps, pilots, air traffic controllers, meteorologists, and others will discuss several different GA-related safety and operational concerns. The workshop panels will remind pilots about runway procedures, provide information to preempt airfield errors, and focus on lowering the potential for accidents. Topics presented and discussed will include: Wrong Surface Risk and Mitigation; Human Factors; Markings, Signage and Lighting; Nighttime Operations; Preparing for Weather Challenges, and more.

2023 National GA Award Winners Announced

Every year for more than 50 years, the General Aviation Awards program and the FAA have recognized aviation professionals for their contributions to general aviation in the fields of flight instruction, aviation maintenance/avionics, and safety. These awards highlight the vital leadership roles these individuals play in promoting safety, education, and professionalism throughout the aviation industry.

Recipients of the 2023 National GA Awards are:

  • Robert “Bob” Raskey — Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year
  • William “Bill” Ross— Aviation Technician of the Year
  • Dennis Miller — FAA Safety Team Representative of the Year
