SAIB AIR-21-13 Engine Emergency Shutdown System
The FAA recently released a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) that informs owners and operators of a design modification for Airbus Helicopters AS350B2 and AS350B3 models. The design modification prevents inadvertent activation of the floor-mounted Fuel Shutoff Lever (FSOL). The fatal AS350B2 crash that occurred in the East River of New York in 2018 involved a chain of events that included loss of engine power due to inadvertent activation of the floor mounted FSOL.
