The FAA recently enhanced the ADS-B Flight Information Services – Broadcast (FIS-B) products in Alaska.

To enhance this valuable service in Alaska, the look ahead range of the following FIS-B products has been increased:

  • METAR and TAF (increase from 250/375 NM to 500 NM)
  • AIRMET, SIGMET, PIREP (increase from 250/375 NM to 500 NM)
  • NOTAM (increase from 100 NM to 500 NM)
  • G-AIRMET (increase from 250/375 NM to 500 NM)
  • CWA (increase from 250/375 NM to 500 NM)
  • Regional NEXRAD (increase from 150/200/250 NM to 500 NM)

The capability and availability of FIS-B products will vary based on individual ADS-B avionics, so please refer to your avionics manufacturer for details.
