"Get Ready for August, The Most Dangerous Flying Month of the Year" is a special presentation of the Hangar Flying Series airing on KAKM Channel 7 in July 2009. The presentations will consist of interviews with local aviation industry personnel. They will air during the Alaska Weather broadcast at 5:30 p.m.
On 7/10/09, Pete Devaris, FAA, spoke on, "Don't Be an August Statistic" (hope you caught it!) On 7/17/09, Bart Stone, DOI, discusses "Off-Airport Training and Techniques." On 7/24/09, Terry Smith will talk about "Personal Experiences in Off-Airport Operations."
Finally, a special presentation of "Off-Airport Landings and Takeoffs" will be shown in two parts on 7/31/09 and 8/7/09. This video, sponsored by the Alaskan Aviation Safety Foundation,was filmed in Alaska and stars Buck Stewart, Fred Porter, Jerry Cockrell and Ray Tremblay.
