Alaskan astronaut Bill Oefelein's two-week mission in space in December 2006 connected with Alaska's youth and heightened interest in flight and exploration. From his Anchorage roots at West High School and flying float planes off Lake Hood in Anchorage to the pinnacle of flight and exploration, the documentary will follow Astronaut Oefelein's life and his achievements on the Space Shuttle Discovery mission, and will outline the historic significance of the mission, which set the stage for the International Space Station to be expanded in size and power for future space research.
