Greetings everyone!  Just wanted to send out a quick update before the end of the year, the ACTUAL year and not the fiscal one that is.

All first quarter activities are locked down, and in fact we did more than was necessary so we are well ahead of the curve as far as the raw statistics go.  I can't help but wonder, however, if there shouldn't be more events happening rather than the "1 and done" model that I've been employing.  What do you all think, should I do my quarterly forums and my monthly "topic of the month" shows more than once and spread the wealth?  I'd have to enlist some help for that one of course, I haven't quite perfected my cloning machine.

Mark your calendars everyone: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23, NOON, AT CVG FSDO WILL BE OUR FIRST REP MEETING OF THE YEAR. I'll be sending out additional reminders and notices as the time grows nearer. AND I'M BRINGING THE FOOD! Please make every effort to attending this meeting OR the second one that I plan to have sometime in June, or both if you are so inclined.

The week of January 12 to January 16 will have me in training for a new surveillance and work planning system that the FAA is rolling out. It won't affect you folks in any way since you won't ever have to touch that new system (unless of course you get hired as a Federale, and some of my reps have been poached thusly in the past). It does mean that I will be completely and totally out of commission for that week, when we are in training the powers-that-be don't want us to get involved with ANYTHING else.  I may be able to fire off a brief email or return a phone call or two, but beyond that it will be like I don't exist for that week.  Sort of like my high school years now that I think about it...

As of this afternoon I am fully webinar and video conferencing capable here at my desk. At least I have the hardware to do it, I may need to call upon our IT support folks to get the necessary programs installed.  Not that I don't know how, I'm good enough with a computer to be considered moderately dangerous, I just don't have admin rights to the system.  I may call upon some of you to help me with a test run of the equipment later to see if it works properly and the bandwidth isn't lacking.  I do have Microsoft Lync on my system already, I may need to get Skype or something similar.

As of this writing, I have two and a half hours before I crawl into my man-cave and don't come out until next year. I've always made it a point to bank up my annual leave time and blow the majority of it all at once around the holidays.  Today is going to be my last day until January 5th, but this shouldn't be an issue since first quarter is all finished.  To that end, I hope everyone enjoys the winter holiday of their choice (too many to list, but my personal attention will be directed towards Christmas) and that 2015 finds you well.

Be safe and stay warm everyone!

Jason Forshey, GA Ops FAASTeam Program Manager, CVG FSDO
