Aircraft Registration
This notice expired on
Sunday, April 6, 2014
Aircrat registration MUST be renewed every three years. Fail to renew before the deadline and the aircraft is unusable until a current registration is obtained.

It is contrary to the regulations to fly an aircraft with an expired registration. Submitting a temporary registration and placing a pink copy in the plane does not suffice. The FAA will not recognize this as a legal registration in lieu of the expired registration.

Currently, the Aircraft Registry in Oklahoma City is taking six weeks to process applications for renewed registrations. It is recommended that application for a renewed registration be made at least TWO months in advance of the expiration date.

All aircraft owners, pilots, examiners and maintenance personnel should check the aircraft registration expiration dates.  Just because the airplane has a registration on board does not mean it is current. An expired registration renders the aircraft unairworthy.

Ref: 14 CFR §47.1 > §47.51

Note:
The Aircraft Registration Application, AC Form 8050-1, is not available for download. You must use an original Aircraft Registration Application, AC Form 8050-1. The FAA does not accept photocopies or computer-generated copies of this form. Aircraft Registration Applications may be obtained from the Aircraft Registration Branch or your local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO).
