The Alaskan Fire Season is upon us once again,
do not be caught unprepared.
During wild fires and controlled burns there may be numerous fire fighting aircraft consisting of air tankers, helicopters, smoke jumpers, reconnaissance and the news media.
With limited visibility due to the smoke these aircraft will be difficult for you to see or for them to see you.
Before your flight check with: FSS, FAASafety.gov SPANS Notices, BLM Alaska Fire Service News:
1. For all NOTAMS including any type of fire activity along your planned route of flight.
2. For any Temporary Flight Restriction Area's, (TFR's).
3. Be extra alert for fire fighting aircraft that are inbound to the TFR area and outbound returning to base.
