The Valdez Mayday Fly-in will be held at the Valdez Pioneer Field on May 8-10, 2009. The FAA will staff a temporary Flight Service Station (FSS) at this event. The temporary FSS will provide airport advisories on the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) 122.9Mhz. The FSS Specialists will also provide pilot and weather briefings and accept and handle flight plans. Remember that the temp. FSS airport advisories are not control instructions like you would receive at an airport with an operating control tower, so keep your eyes open and look for traffic that the temp. FSS advises you about. Also, fly a wide pattern (see graphic at web-site below) during fly-in events.
