HOTSPOT 2 AWARENESS
Pilots are reminded to exercise increased vigilance in the vicinity of Hotspot 2
(TWY D / TWY K near RWY 35 and RWY 27R).
Recent pilot deviations have involved aircraft continuing on Taxiway D instead of turning onto Taxiway K as instructed.
To reduce the risk of a runway incursion:
- Review the airport diagram prior to taxi.
- Confirm taxiway identification before crossing any runway.
- Closely monitor hold short instructions.
- If uncertain of your position or clearance, stop and contact ATC.
PHL ATCT may provide additional directional instructions to assist pilots operating in this area.
When approaching Hotspot number 2 from the north, Taxiway D has additional markings on the pavement to indicate the turn onto Taxiway K
The hold short bar for Runway 17/35 is canted towards Taxiway D for visibility.
