UPDATED Kona Airport (KOA) Runway Closure Info

Effective immediately until 11/27/2025, the north four thousand feet of the Kona Airport (KOA) Runway 17-35 will be closed due to construction. The north 4,000' of the runway is closed to 17 arrivals only , all 35 operations and departures from 17 can use the full 11,000 feet. After the 4,000 foot displaced threshold at the approach end of Runway 17, the remaining available runway length will be 7,000 feet.  

On Wednesday night 10/1/25 the jet blast fence will be replaced with low-profile barricades. The jet blast walls will be removed the night of Oct 1, no barricades will be in place during open runway hours.

Runway 17-35 will be entirely out of service during the following nightly work periods, commencing 10/01/2025:

From 10/1/25 to 10/19/25 runway will close at 2300 and open at 0600.

From 10/20/25 to 11/21/25 runway will close at 2200 and open at 0600.

From 11/22/25 to 12/1/25 there will no runway closures The nights of 11/27 and 11/28 the runway will be closed from 2200 and open at 0600. Once the work is complete all operations on 17 and 35 return to full 11,000'
