Aurora State Airport (UAO) Surface Seal and Markings Project

Reminder: The Aurora State Airport (UAO) Surface Seal and Markings Project is scheduled to begin Monday July 8th. This project will provide needed pavement maintenance and improved markings on all state taxiways, taxilanes, and aprons at UAO.

There are 4 total Work Areas for this project, Work Area 1 will require the runway to be closed for approximately 5 days while workers are within the Protected Area of the runway. Throughout the remainder of the project, access to the runway may be limited as the parallel taxiway Alpha, taxilanes, and aprons will be closed as depicted in the 3 other Work Areas (Please see the Plans and the revised Work Area 4 are attached).

Here is the complete Project/Work Area Closure Schedule:

  • The project will begin Monday July 8th with a 12-hour closure of Work Areas 2 and 4 (8am-8pm).
  • Starting Tuesday July 9th, the runway and Work Area 2 will be closed for 12 hours (8am-8pm).
  • Starting Wednesday July 10th, the runway and Work Area 2 will be closed for 3 days starting at 8am, reopening by 8pm Friday July 12th.
    • Work Area 4 will be added to the runway and Work Area 2 closure on Friday July 12th
  • From Saturday July 13th through Friday July 19th, Work Areas 3 and 4 will be closed for a series of 12-hour and 2-day durations.
    • Saturday July 13th, Work Area 4 will be closed for 12 hours (8am-8pm).
    • Starting Monday July 15th, Work Area 4 will be closed for 2 days starting 8am, reopening by 8pm Tuesday July 16th.
    • Wednesday July 17th, Work Area 3 will be closed for 12 hours (8am-8pm).
    • Starting Thursday July 18th, Work Area 3 will be closed for 2 days starting 8am, reopening by 8pm Friday July 19th.

The project is expected to be substantially complete by Friday July 19th, with limited closures for final paint application to follow in late July/early August. 

(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures, please check the latest NOTAMs. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from open areas of the airport. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas. Throughout these surface closures, the Air Traffic Control Tower will remain open and controlled Class D airspace will be in affect during normal operating hours.
