Teterboro,NJ (TEB) RUUDY SID deviations
This posting will be removed on
Tuesday, September 24, 2024

Recent aircraft departing Teterboro, New Jersey (KTEB) assigned the RUUDY SID have encountered several issues resulting in lateral and/or vertical navigation errors. The navigation standard is RNAV 1 and the instrument altitude standard is plus or minus 75 feet. A deviation is recorded by Air Traffic Control when off altitude by more than 300 feet MSL.

Off route and altitude excursions are high risk as Newark Liberty International arrivals are only 1000 feet above RUUDY departures. It is mandatory to cross WENTZ intersection at 1500 feet. Do not be distracted by the Top Altitude of 2000 dictated by Climb Via procedures.

Flight Management Systems with “Push to Load” capability will, upon inserting and activating a route modification, erase a previously loaded SID.  Before departing pilots must verify the FMS route, aircraft map display and the SID waypoints and constraints in order to ensure accurate Performance Based Navigation on departure.

Remember it is a regulation to inform Air Traffic Control of degradation or loss of navigation capability as soon as possible.

Following the recommended checklists and procedures in AC 90-100A, U.S. Terminal and En Route Area Navigation (RNAV) Operations, is highly suggested or an FAA approved company manual.
