Community Engagement — San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio International Airport

The Federal Aviation Administration is proposing an update to air traffic control procedures that bring aircraft into and out of San Antonio International Airport.

  • This suite of air traffic procedures, known as Performance Based Navigation, or PBN, are satellite-based, and will improve on-time performance, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance safety.
  • These proposed procedures would enable aircraft to fly where they currently fly, but at a higher altitude for a longer period of time.
  • An Environmental Assessment will be conducted for noise impacts. Results will be shared with the public once it is completed.

Residents of San Antonio and the surrounding areas are encouraged to learn more about the proposal by attending scheduled live virtual broadcasts featuring air traffic experts who will explain the proposal.

The FAA will hold two virtual workshops via Zoom. Spanish translation will be available on Zoom only.

  • To attend, you can register to watch and participate via Zoom, OR you may watch on FAA's FacebookTwitter and YouTube platforms, which do not require registration.
  • You must pre-register if you wish to watch via Zoom. You will have the opportunity to ask questions on the platform.
  • You do not need to register if you wish to watch via FacebookTwitter and YouTube. You will be able to submit questions via a Google form that will be available on the platform's chat feature.
