The Summerville Airport (KDYB), located approximately 5 NW of Summerville, South Carolina, uses Runways 06 and 24. However, because of a topographical crest near the middle of the runway, aircraft departing opposite ends of the runway may not be visible to each other during the takeoff roll.
Therefore, to ensure the highest level of safety:
- Immediately after you taxi from the ramp, and prior to turning onto taxiway A (the taxiway paralleling the runway) CHECK BOTH ENDS OF THE RUNWAY;
- Be sure to listen and announce your intentions on the CTAF - 123.0; and
- Maintain sterile cockpit.
