WINGSPro. Air Force Flight Safety Officer. Extensive Major accident and incident investigation board time.
Instructor and Flight Standards Officer.

Wing safety officer duties focused on the educational development and administration of the flight safety program for a F-4 operational wing in two separate assignments. This program required the integration of flight crew and maintenance into the overall responsibility for accident and incident elimination. Accident and incident investigation and reporting were a secondary responsibility for the position.

First Air Force assignment was as a Helicopter Pilot to the unique Mid Air Retrieval squadron. We recovered drones in the air when they returned from out of country flights. This was the predecessors to the drones of today which actually have landing gear and are flown to a landing. I.E.: the predator.

I progressed to instructor pilot, flight examiner, and Chief of Flight Standards at my last helicopter unit.

I was selected to fly the Night Vision Recovery upstart program and progressed to instructor position for the program. This was the first program to use night vision technology to allow pilots to perform flight duties in darkness without lighting on the aircraft.

I was selected to provide launch range recovery for Apollo-Soyus space launch. The program required an extensive 6 mo flight training program with final certification by NASA to certify for the profile.

Job performance and flight experience insured my selection for Fixed Wing conversion. Fixed wing conversion class ranking of number 2 gave me the opportunity to select a fighter pilot slot. I selected F-4 and flew it until I separated from the service.

As a F-4 pilot I entered the Flight Safety Program and progressed from squadron to Wing Safety Officer. I performed this duty in two separate wing assignments.

My qualification is substantiated by the nomination and selection to receive the Chief Of Staff of the Air Force Individual Safety Award during the last year that I was a safety officer.

I received two excellent IG ratings of my program, each in different wing assignments.

I am an active flyer and attend the safety meeting regularly at local airport. I have presented several programs at the local airport. I would not relinquish claiming the highest attendance status for our monthly safety meetings.

I have attended the airport authority board meeting consistently for the last 5 years.

I feel that I can make a difference and be a positive contributor to the flight safety of general aviation.

I am a level 6 wings participant and have completed extensive number of the online programs.

I am a advocate of education to improve the overall safety of general aviation.

I believe that intervention is necessary to insure the safe operation of today’s flying as there is reduced time spent in the cockpit and on individual proficiency.

I am an owner and active member of the general aviation community.
