Title:
BFC Instrument Seminar
Topic:
Human Factors for IFR Flight
Date and Time:
Thursday, March 26, 2026, starting at 18:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Adam Kellum, Brendan Conner
Brief Description:

IFR flying is rarely limited by stick and rudder skill. It is limited by decision-making under pressure. “Human Factors for IFR Flight” examines the cognitive traps, workload management challenges, and stress responses that show up when weather, systems, and ATC demands converge.

We will discuss spatial disorientation, task saturation, automation management, fatigue, and plan continuation bias, along with practical techniques to stay ahead of the airplane. Through real-world scenarios, this seminar focuses on recognizing when performance is degrading and what to do before small errors compound.

IFR proficiency is not just about procedures. It is about understanding how the human brain performs in a high-workload environment and building habits that protect you when it matters most.
