Brief Description:
Runway incursions remain a serious concern both locally and nationally. One important component of ongoing efforts to improve surface safety at the Akron-Canton Airport involves conducting meetings with airport users of all backgrounds. The purpose of the RSAT meeting is to unite those individuals and organizations who are actively involved in air traffic operations and movement of aircraft, vehicles, and equipment in the Airport Operations Area (AOA). Our focus is an update on Runway 1/19 lighting, Signage and Markings, Hear back/Read back, expectation bias, and local surface incidents. Along with the focus items, we will cover information to include national statistics, seasonal information, and upcoming events. Participants are asked to help develop recommendations and solutions to enhance surface safety. Those recommendations serve as the foundation for a site-specific Runway Safety Action Plan that is shared with all who attend. Your participation is valuable, and your input is welcomed.
