Title:
Monthly meeting of Columbus EAA IMC Club Mastering the Art of Instrument Navigation
Topic:
FAR 91.185 can be confusing under lost comm, when your clearance limit is an airport, and you arrive before EFC.
Date and Time:
Wednesday, October 24, 2018, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Paul Palmisciano, Tim Heron
Brief Description:

Virtually every IFR clearance begins with the words “Cleared as filed,” meaning that you’ve been cleared to your destination airport. In most situations, you receive radar vectors from ATC, or you request an approach to reach your destination, and everything works out well. However, what happens when you lose communications with ATC and simultaneously expect to arrive at your destination well in advance of your ETA (you experienced stronger tailwinds than anticipated)?  Where do you go? What do you do?  We’ll examine FAR 91.185 (c) (3) from several perspectives. Our video scenario, and group discussion, will examine your options under these circumstances.

Also, our session will underscore key changes to FARs that affect instrument pilot currency and key training regulations changes that recently went into effect.
