Title:
Single Pilot Risk Analysis Tolerance and Mitigation
Topic:
Unique Risks Associated in Single Pilot Operations and Best Practices to Identify and Mitigate Hazards.
Date and Time:
Saturday, September 29, 2018, starting at 09:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Emmet Bartholomew
Brief Description:

A crucial part of aviation safety is to incorporate redundancy into critical systems.  This is similar to maintaining a secondary (Plan B, etc.) strategy when the execution of an original plan does not proceed as expected.  In Single Pilot operations, particularly in smaller aircraft, where they are most frequently conducted, there are limited means and redundancy that are capable of backing up the most critical component, the pilot.  This single, critical point of failure is not only at risk if the pilot where to become incapacitated but also if any errors are made that are contrary to safe flight.

This seminar will explore the likely issues that relate to accidents in a single pilot environment and will address best practices and techniques to mitigate these risks.

The FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award will be presented to John Torrance, a local airman at the conclusion of the meeting.  John has already been honored with the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award.
