Topic:
EAA IMC Scenario Presentation for IMC May 2026 - 'Trim Trouble'
Date and Time:
Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 10:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Paul Wallace
Brief Description:

The EAA IMC Club provides a "hangar flying" experience organized around instrument flight to promote safety, education, and proficiency.

The scenario(s) we will discuss at this meeting is/are: The scenario titled "Trim Trouble" was inspired by an actual flight as follows: Our pilot is faced with a potential systems malfunction during a roughly 90-minute flight in IMC in a Beech Baron.

We will also discuss the IMC Question of the month

Question: Many pilots consistently use a 65 or 75 percent power setting in cruise.  Under what conditions would a best range or best endurance power setting be warranted, and how can you set them?

Bring your EFB, your experience, and your questions, and be ready to participate.

All are welcome.  You do not need to be an EAA member or instrument-rated pilot to attend

We will also be discussing how you can earn WINGS Credit.

What is the EAA/IMC Club?

EAA provides monthly program resources in the form of IMC related scenarios designed to encourage open discussion and for all participants to answer the question, "What would you do if this happened to you?"

What is the purpose of the EAA/IMC Club?

The purpose of EAA Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) Clubs is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety.  The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying.

EAA IMC Clubs are extensions of local EAA chapters.  They offer monthly IMC program meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences.

Do you need to bring anything?

First, bring your thoughts or stories and be willing to share them with the group.  This meeting is very interactive, and group participation is a fundamental element of the EAA/IMC Club meeting.

Others have found it helpful to bring along a copy of their flight manual, GPS manual, and charts.  If you navigate with an iPad, bring it along.

Who can attend?

You don't need an instrument rating to attend.  This meeting is open to all current, noncurrent, and future instrument pilots.
