Title:
IMC Club Meeting
Topic:
Flying in IMC
Date and Time:
Wednesday, August 13, 2025, starting at 19:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Art Howard
Brief Description:

Pilots discuss IFR scenarios regarding flight in IMC.

This Month’s Question and Answer:

Question: You’re flying an aircraft with a carbureted engine and have just completed a rather long taxi for departure. The outside air temperature is about 70 degrees F, and the humidity is high. As part of your runup, you momentarily turn the carb heat on, and noticing a reasonable drop in RPM, you turn it back off again. Should you be comfortable that the carb heat check is satisfactory? What other hazard might still exist, and how would you check for it?

IMC Club

The purpose of EAA Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) Clubs is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. EAA IMC Clubs are extensions to local EAA chapters and offer monthly IMC program meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences. Since 2017, instrument pilots have improved their proficiency through the EAA IMC club programs and they love it.
