My father and I (fully certificated and current) were flying a couple of retired US citizens to our farm in Venezuela. We refueled and filed our flight plan for the PA23-150 (Piper Aztec Multi-Engine) from San Fernando de Apure to our farm in the Amazon Jungle on the Venezuelan side in a hurry. We were racing against bad weather. Our PA23-150 was turbo charged and had a TURBO label on the cowling. My father and I went to file the flight plan with the airport director of operations. We left the refueling unattended. Once we returned to the plane, we checked the fuel gauges, sump the fuel drain ports, and taxied to the runway. The plane was fully fueled and at maximum gross weight. Did our run-up and took off all normal, until...
