Title:
Secrets Only Pilots Know About Airports
Topic:
Tom Slater will present some interesting items about Secrets Only Pilots Know About Airports
Date and Time:
Friday, July 26, 2019, starting at 16:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Tom Slater
Brief Description:

This presentation is suited for the pilots of all experience levels (students to ATP) as we share little known facts about the airports we fly into every day.  A fun example -- this lesson will teach pilots how to determine runway length, width, type of approaches and runway classification just by looking out their cockpit window.  This presentation also teaches pilots about recognizing both common and unusual pavement markings and the WHY they are there.  This lesson also presents the “What’s and Why’s” of airfield lighting systems and the common NAVAIDs we count on every time we fly.  We have fun in the process as we take a short pictorial quiz as well as visit and share some of the most interesting “oddities” at airports across the US.
