If you're properly prepared, an FAA ramp check should be a routine procedure. Knowing what to do, what not to do, and what is expected of you should help reduce your anxiety about them.
Ben Stauffer is an attorney based in Norco, CA and is licensed to practice law in California and
Nevada. While participating as a panel attorney for AOPA’s Legal Services Plan since 2009, Mr.
Stauffer assisted numerous members with FAA enforcement/criminal prosecution matters,
accidents and incidents, as well as aircraft purchase/sale transactions and partnership formations.
He is an instrument rated commercial pilot and has been flying for over 30 years including six
years in narcotics interdiction. He is a retired police officer from the Garden Grove Police
Department after 31 years and a former Deputy District Attorney in Orange County. He is
currently back in private practice performing workplace investigations and serving as an AOPA
Pilot Protection Services Panel Attorney.
