Title:
IFR Flying to Watsonville (Available in-person and online)
Topic:
Part 3 of 3 The Joy of IFR Flying Series (1-3 PM PST)
Date and Time:
Saturday, December 16, 2023, starting at 13:00 Pacific Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Thao Do
Brief Description:

Watsonville Airport (KWVI) is a well-known destination for Bay Area pilots. However, like many seaside airports, KWVI is frequently covered in marine layers. During winter, low visibility and low ceilings can make flying VFR quite challenging. The safest way to reach KWVI is to fly IFR.

This seminar, Part 3 of 3 IFR Flying Series, is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of what to expect on an IFR flight. You will learn:

- Why flying IFR makes you a safer and more proficient pilot

- How to plan an IFR flight from Reid Hillview San Jose (KRHV) to Watsonville (KWVI) and back

- How to communicate with ATC during an IFR departure, en-route, and arrival

- How to manage your crew resources with your copilots and passengers

- How human factors and spatial disorientation can influence your flight

Whether you're interested in learning IFR or are already an IFR-rated pilot seeking proficiency and currency, this seminar is for you. Once you've experienced flying IFR, you'll wonder how you ever flew without it!
