Title:
Ground School Refresher Course
Topic:
Pure Basics on What Every Pilot Must Know
Date and Time:
Sunday, February 26, 2023, starting at 13:30 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Denny D. Martens, FAASTeam Representative
Brief Description:

What better time for pilots than sharing aviation experiences to help create a Positive Safety Culture.  A big part of risk management is "Expanding Horizons" to help identify, assess, and prioritize risks.

Looking at the risks and being pro-active with greater awareness is an important component of having a Positive Safety Culture.  A Positive Safety Culture does not come in one size, shape, or color - it is a reflection of the people and organizations that make it all happen every day.

Come join Denny Martens (FAASTeam Representative) as he reviews so many of the basics every pilot must know.  Instructor Martens is an experienced pilot and certified flight instructor with many years of valuable knowledge.  What better way to learn, than from someone who has been nominated to receive the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award and has an ongoing passion for aviation safety.

This three-hour ground school refresher course will cover the following:

  • Understanding ADS-B
  • Cold Weather Operations
  • Accident/Incident Reporting (Part 830)
  • Legal Aircraft Requirements
  • Legal Pilot Requirements
  • Aircraft Performance
  • GPS Operations
  • Airspace Operations & Requirements
  • General Aviation Airport Operations
  • Radio Communications
  • Proper Usage of the CTAF & Unicom Frequencies
  • Class G Airport Operations (Non-Towered Airports)
  • Class C Airport Operations (Towered Airports)

NOTE:  For those wanting to obtain the Basic, Advanced, and Master WINGS credit, you will need to attend this entire three-hour event.

This unique ground school refresher course can be used to meet the ground knowledge requirement for a flight review in accordance with the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations (CFR) Part 61.56.
