Title:
CFIT Will Not Happen to Me!
Topic:
CFIT - Controlled Flight Into Terrain
Date and Time:
Tuesday, February 21, 2023, starting at 19:00 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Lou Volchansky, FAASTeam Representative
Brief Description:

In this seminar we will discuss "CFIT", Controlled Flight Into Terrain. If no one "plans" to fly into terrain, why does it occur? During the discussion, we will discuss CFIT scenarios (for example, loss of situation awareness, IFR procedural mistakes, and unrealistic performance expectations). Although pilots have access to more information in the cockpit than in past decades, how can this lead to distractions and keep the pilot from flying the airplane? We'll also discuss tips to avoid CFIT and safety management.
