Title:
Ground School Refresher Course
Topic:
Pure Basics on What Every Pilot Must Know
Date and Time:
Sunday, February 6, 2022, starting at 13:30 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Denny D. Martens, FAASTeam Representative
Brief Description:

What better time for pilots, than sharing aviation experiences to help create a Positive Safety Culture.  A big part of risk management is "Expanding Horizons" to identify, assess, and prioritize risks.  Looking at the risks and being pro-active with greater awareness is a big part of having a Positive Safety Culture.  A Positive Safety Culture doesn't come in one size, shape, or color - it's a reflection of the people and organizations that make it happen every day.

Come join Denny Martens (FAASTeam Representative) as he reviews so many of the basics every pilot must know.  Instructor Martens is an experienced pilot and certified flight instructor with many years of valuable knowledge.  What better way to learn, than from someone who has been nominated to receive the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award and has an ongoing passion for aviation safety.

This three-hour ground school refresher course will cover the following:

  • ADS-B
  • Cold Weather Operations
  • Runway Safety
  • Loss of Control (Controlled Flight Into Terrain / CFIT)
  • Stall/Spin Awareness
  • Basic Aerodynamics
  • Aircraft Operations (Checklist Usage)
  • Airspace Requirements
  • Effective Communications
  • Performance Speeds
  • Takeoffs and Landings
  • Traffic Pattern Operations

This ground school refresher course can be used to meet the ground knowledge requirement for a flight review in accordance with the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations (CFR) Part 61.56.
