Title:
Owner/Operator Performed Preventive Maintenance
Topic:
This FAASTeam Seminar focuses on preventive maintenance from the owner/operator or pilot's perspective.
Date and Time:
Tuesday, October 20, 2026, starting at 19:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Paul Wallace, David Hintz
Brief Description:

The following are authorized to perform preventive Maintenance and other Maintenance: The holders of mechanic and repairman certificates, persons working under the supervision of these mechanics and repairmen, a repair station certificated under Part 145, and air carriers certificated under 14 CFR parts 121 and 135.  Because these persons are authorized to perform maintenance functions as both preventive and other Maintenance, it is of little consequence to them how a particular function is classified, and the procedures used to approve items for return to service and to record preventive and other Maintenance are identical.

This FAASTeam Seminar focuses on Preventive Maintenance from the owner/operator or pilot's perspective.  Preventive Maintenance, as defined by 14 CFR, Section 1.1, is "simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations."
