Title:
ASCEND 2026 - Learn and Teach Angle of Attack Awareness
Topic:
A Safer Future is Here: Learn and Teach Angle of Attack Awareness
Date and Time:
Thursday, September 10, 2026, starting at 11:30 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Karen Kalishek
Brief Description:

The FAA has recommended that all GA aircraft have angle of attack (AOA) indicators installed, calibrated, and pilots be trained to use the device. Few of us were taught to fly or teach lift awareness with AOA indicators, so why use them and why now? AOA indicators are a priority in reducing loss-of-control fatalities. Builders and manufacturers are installing this technology in most new aircraft, and all new trainers built under MOSAIC will have AOA indicators. Pilots have discovered that AOA indicators improve landings, and flight schools are adding the equipment to their fleets. Learn about this lifesaving technology and AOA indicator exercises you can use for training.
