Brief Description:

This informal roundtable will bring together CFIs and sport pilot instructors to discuss how MOSAIC is reshaping sport pilot training and instruction. Participants will explore expanded aircraft and operating privileges, new training and endorsement requirements, and the opportunities and challenges these changes create for instructors and flight schools. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions, share experiences, and exchange practical ideas for adapting their training programs to the evolving light sport aviation environment.

Bill Snodgrass is a Sport Pilot Certified Flight Instructor with over 1,000 hours of instruction. He is a Private Pilot with over 2000 hours total flying time. Bill is on the ASTM Light Sport MOSAIC Committee helping with the new Means of Compliance Standards for new Light Sport Part 22 Aircraft. He has been instructing for over 6 years in various Light-Sport Airplanes and is currently instructing in the Van’s Aircraft RV-12. Bill is as close to an expert as you will find in Light Sport and Sport Pilot instruction. He started in 2004 working on his PPL but then, for medical reasons, switched to Sport Pilot. Bill later completed the FAA Medical process to get his 3rd Class Medical and currently flies under BasicMed as a PPL and, with his Driver’s License, as a Sport Pilot Instructor.

This presentation is offered during the 2026 ASCEND Flight Training Summit.

FAA WINGS preregistration is not required for activities offered during ASCEND.
