Brief Description:

Day one ground school provides tools to understand and safely plan for the unique challenges of mountain flying.  Day two starts with an optional morning mountain flight and ground school in the afternoon, building on day one and focusing on mountain flight safety. Day three offers a second optional mountain flight. Topics covered include aircraft performance, mountain weather, mountain communications, mountain flight operations & maneuvers, aeromedical issues, risk management, and survival.  Optional flight activities on day 2 and day 3 offer an opportunity to fly in the mountains of northern NM and Colorado with an experienced mountain flying instructor. Successful completion of ground and flight portions will earn an applicable WINGS phase.
