Brief Description:

John Lorenz will present the fun of flying out of New Mexico's high-altitude back country airstrips and paved airports, with a particular focus on safety aspects including density altitude: how to determine it, what systems are affected, and how it degrades performance in the different phases of flight (takeoff, cruise, landing, etc). An active CFI, John serves as Safety & Education Chair of the New Mexico Pilots Association (NMPA).  

5:30 Pizza Social; 6:15 - 7:30pm Program, hosted by NMPA and NMDOT Aviation Division. Visit their booth on the NCAR ramp.

Safe Skies New Mexico is a 2026 aviation seminar series designed to bring practical, real-world safety education directly to pilots, aircraft owners, maintainers, airport sponsors, and aviation enthusiasts across the state.
