Join us in Truckee for another edition of the Fly Safe Seminar Series. This month, experienced pilots Michael Golden and Leigh Golden will dive into what you should know for a trip from Truckee to the San Francisco Class B Airspace. The two will focus on safe operations into and out of San Carlos (KSQL) and will cover smart flight planning for the mountain portion of the route. They will also discuss Bay Area weather hazards, visual reporting points, departure procedures and how to request and fly the "Bay Tour." With thousands of landings at KSQL and other Bay Area airports, Michael and Leigh will bring a wealth of knowledge to pilots who may be nervous flying in the busy Class B airspace.
Also joining the discussion is TRK Tower Manager and former SQL Air Traffic Controller, Steve Ingebretson to share his insight into his time in San Carlos.

About the speakers:
Leigh and Michael have the same last name, and while you might see them performing classic rock hits at open mic nights in Truckee, they aren't actually related
Michael Golden is the founder and owner of Mountain West Aviation, a full-service aviation company that provides charter, maintenance, flight training, aircraft management and FBO services. He learned how to fly out of KTRK decades ago and is now an instrument rated pilot with thousands of hours of flight time serving as PIC on journeys from coast to coast and countless trans-Sierra crossings into and out of the San Francisco Class B airspace. Michael served on the Board of Directors of the Truckee Tahoe Airport in addition to being the former Chairman of the Carson City Airport Authority.
Leigh Golden holds a multi-engine ATP rating in addition to an AMP/IA. His career includes flying for the airlines as well as corporate flying in King Air's, MU2's and Lear Jets. Leigh is also an amateur rocket enthusiast with a Level 3-High Power Certification and can often be found in Northern Nevada's Misfit Flats.
