Title:
Wings of Carolina Flying Club Quarterly Safety Seminar
Topic:
We Will Take a Deep Dive into Spatial Disorientation.
Speaker(s):
Paul Golick, Professional CFI
Brief Description:
Last January, the FAA Flight Standard Service issued InFO 26003 on "Spatial Disorientation (SD) Training for Pilots". InFO 26003 referred to NTSB reports and safety recommendations that were produced after the crash of N72EX where the pilot suffered spatial disorientation. The NTSB recommendations included improved pilot spatial disorientation training. This Spatial Disorientation presentation includes several videos that explain the physiological causes of disorientation, illustrations of several types of spatial illusions, and strategies to recognize the disorientation and to maintain aircraft control. Video sources include the Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Australia, PublicResourceOrg videos previously distributed by FAA, TransportCanada, and the AOPA Air Safety Institute. Pizza will be available after 6PM for those attendees who arrive early. The presentation is open to all pilots. Click the link below and register TODAY.
