Title:
Decision Fatigue- The Hidden Cause Behind Rotorcraft Fatalities
Topic:
Decision Fatigue: The Leading Hidden Cause of Helicopter Fatal Accidents—and How to Stop It
Date and Time:
Monday, March 9, 2026, starting at 08:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Gary 'GPS' Guy in the Pink Shirt Reeves
Brief Description:

4-Hour Class: The biggest—and least understood—cause of fatal accidents in helicopter operations is decision fatigue. Despite advances in GPS, iPad and tablet technology, autopilots, and terrain/traffic systems, accidents among air medical, tour, and charter operators are getting worse—not better. This must-attend four-hour course will use three fatal US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) accident reports to show how mental overload, overreliance on technology, and lack of targeted training led to tragic outcomes. Attendees will work together to analyze each case and identify what could have prevented it. This course is vital for safety management system managers, safety officers, and rotor craft pilots who are serious about preventing the next fatal accident—before it happens.
