Title:
Monthly Safety Meeting - Gatorland Aviators
Topic:
Pre-Flight Planning and Risk Management: A Fatal Accident Case Study Involving High-Time Pilots
Date and Time:
Wednesday, February 18, 2026, starting at 18:00 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
RJ Hirko, PhD
Brief Description:

In early training and years of flying, pilots are aware of safety checks done before every flight.  The discipline to follow these teachings should last our whole flying career.  We will focus on an accident that took the lives of three highly experienced pilots who missed or ignored broken links in their fatal accident chain.

Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your knowledge and promote a safer flying environment for all.  This seminar promises to be informative and interactive, enhancing practical strategies for identifying and mitigating risks in aviation operations.

Data shows that pilots who participate in the WINGS program are involved in fewer accidents and incidents because of improved aviation knowledge and pilot proficiency.  A Phase of WINGS equals a flight review.  Additionally, some aviation insurers offer discounts to pilots who participate.  If you have any questions about the WINGS program, talk to your local FAA Safety Team Representatives.
