Title:
Monthly Safety Meeting at PWK by CEPA
Topic:
Flight Following or Rogue
Date and Time:
Wednesday, February 25, 2026, starting at 19:00 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Michael Baraz, CFII
Brief Description:

You take off for your Visual Flight Rule (VFR) three-hour cross-country. You're heading toward a Terminal Radar Service Area (TRSA), so you call for flight following. It's crazy bumpy, so you tell them your destination, and you are climbing to 8,500'. ATC says at or below 3000'. Whoa! What do you do?

Speaker Bio:

Michael Baraz, ATP, CFI/CFII, AGI, IGI

Michael Baraz holds ATP, CFI, CFII, AGI, and IGI certificates. He is an active flight instructor and FAA Safety Lead Team Representative. He loves helping people achieve their flying goals and staying safe, current, and proficient through continuous training with WINGS credits. Michael flies a Mooney Rocket 305 (because life is too short to fly slow). He is a member of several flying clubs and pilot associations in the Chicago area and is the treasurer and past president of CEPA.

Additional Event Information & Acknowledgement of Industry Sponsor(s):

The purpose of the Chicago Executive Pilot Association (CEPA) Safety Education Program is to promote flying, proficiency, and safety and create a community of pilots willing to share their perspectives, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. Please participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair, firmly on the ground... before it is you sitting in the cockpit!

We meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our heads in the game.

If you aren't yet a member of CEPA, please consider joining. Your dues help pay for these Safety Seminars.
