MOSAIC is here - What Instructors and Pilots Need to Know
Topic:
The Implications of MOASIC for Pilots, Aircraft, and Flight Instructors
Speaker(s):
Dr. Samantha Bowyer
Brief Description:
The Federal Aviation Administration’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC), effective October 22, 2025, introduces sweeping changes that expand pilot privileges, training opportunities, and aircraft eligibility under the sport category. This presentation provides an overview of MOSAIC, focusing on its implications for instructors and pilots. Key topics include expanded sport pilot privileges such as operation of four-seat aircraft, retractable gear, constant-speed propellers, helicopters meeting light-sport rules, increased stall speeds, and night operations with proper endorsements. The session will also clarify what proposals did not move forward. Practical resources for instructors will be highlighted to support effective implementation and ensure readiness as the rule takes effect.
