September Topic of the Month - Safety Wire
Topic:
Safety Wiring: Fundamentals and Best Practices
Date and Time:
Friday, September 26, 2025, starting at 13:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Leo Berube, FAASTeam Representative; Isaac White, IA, A&P
Brief Description:

Your airplane is only going to fly properly when it stays all together.  As the saying goes, it is not a piece of junk flying in close formation!  It is a complex machine dealing with a variety of stresses and stains in its operating environment, and preventative safety measures should be taken to protect against the adverse consequences of use, wear and tear.  Among these measures are the use of safety wire, locking nuts, and castle nuts with cotter pins. All of these are addressed in this seminar.  A number of accidents have important teaching lessons which will be discussed too.
