Title:
Post-Maintenance Check Flights and Airworthiness Awareness
Topic:
Having Your Aircraft Ready for this Hurricane Season
Speaker(s):
German Alvarez, Brandon Martinez, and Jorge Echegoyen
Brief Description:
A pilot's lack of awareness of their airworthiness responsibilities could lead to accepting an aircraft that is not airworthy for flight operations. This awareness becomes crucial during the Atlantic Hurricane Season in the Caribbean, which runs from June 1 through November 30. Repositioning flights to avoid weather systems are always a possibility during this season, and having your aircraft ready and in airworthy condition is imperative.
This safety seminar's main objective will be to stress the importance of proper return to service determination, documentation, and the importance of post-maintenance check flights. We want to reinforce both the pilot and mechanic roles in ensuring safe operations after aircraft maintenance events or prolonged periods of storage.
