Title:
RAF - Airfield Guide And Backcountry Flying
Topic:
Recreational Aviation Foundation…Preserving Backcountry Aviation
Date and Time:
Friday, May 16, 2025, starting at 09:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Amy Gesch
Brief Description:

The backcountry is closer than you think! It’s not just for big-tire super-duper Cubs and monster Skywagons.  Learn about how the RAF preserves, creates, and improves airstrips for recreational access here in Minnesota and beyond, along with ways you can help. This presentation will also cover the RAF’s grant program which funds improvements for airstrips like bicycles, pilot shelters, campgrounds, and more. We’ll share some regional destinations and help you find the right people to connect with. We will also discuss how to safely plan and examine risks of back country flying.  We’ll also introduce you to the new and improved Airfield Guide, a repository of information about airfields that have recreational opportunities - special places, as we like to call them.
