Title:
Human Factors for CFIs and Aircraft Performance Awareness
Topic:
A CFI/DPE Forum Focused on Human Factors and Making Performance Numbers
Speaker(s):
Roberto Acevedo and Jorge Echegoyen
Brief Description:
The term "Human Factors" refers to the wide range of issues affecting how people perform tasks in their work and leisure environments. Knowledge of the human body and mind allows us to better understand our own capabilities and limitations. This in turn lets us design tasks and technology to optimize the relationship between human operators and their work environments.
The focus of this CFI/DPE Forum will be how to apply Human Factors knowledge when conducting flight and ground instruction and how we as instructors teach these concepts to our students. Ultimately, we aim at having a discussion on the many benefits of Positive Safety Cultures.
In addition, we plan to have an open discussion on Aircraft and Pilot Performance Expectations. "Making the Numbers" is the General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) topic for the month of December. We will approach this part of the forum from a flight instructor perspective. Case studies and exercises will be discussed with those in attendance.
