Here’s a recap of what this course has taught.
First we made sure there was an understanding about why policies procedures, instructions, rules, regulations, and best practices exist and why they are the “safety net” foundation.
Then we revisited the difference between an unintentional non-compliance and a deliberate intentional violation. We discussed how deviations from these critical safety nets creates unacceptable and unsafe conditions.
Then the course introduced the five most common “rationalizations” that mechanics use to justify when they intentionally deviate from established safety nets.
The course then showed examples when you might find yourself in the “rationalization” mode.
And finally, the course recommended some alternatives that can be used when making the “compliance versus intentional non-compliance (rationalization) decision.”
