Who this is for: Master-level instrument pilots preparing for airline interviews, type ratings, or single-pilot jet IFR operations who want a realistic KLAS–KSFO transport-profile LOFT.
CFII-led, LOFT-style IFR session in our FAA-approved G1000 NXi Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD, non-motion). This Master-tier scenario recreates the KLAS → KSFO route with a dynamic SID/STAR profile. Designed for pilots preparing for airline interview simulator prep, type rating preparation, or single-pilot jet IFR training.
What you’ll practice:
- Practice full IFR clearance, departure, and STAR sequencing from KLAS to KSFO using Jeppesen-style procedures. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 10; FAA-H-8083-16B, Ch 1 & 4)
- Execute route management with reroutes, holds, and diversion drills under realistic ATC scenarios. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 10; FAA-H-8083-16B, Ch 2)
- Demonstrate automation and FMS logic with proactive command of autopilot and VNAV modes. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 6)
- Manage high-workload jet operations including engine-out, abnormal, and weather scenarios. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 7)
- Apply energy, workload, and decision management techniques for stabilized approaches in the Bay Area. (FAA-H-8083-16B, Ch 4)
What you’ll walk away with:
- Hands-on experience flying a complete transport-style IFR profile with realistic departures, arrivals, and ATC workload.
- Sharper jet-level automation management and FMS skills that translate directly to interview and recurrent check scenarios.
- A scenario debrief aligned with Instrument Rating ACS and professional cockpit standards to guide your next training steps.
Syllabus and credits:
- S-MF2-W-1.0-01 — Flight operations away from airports/heliports/seaplane bases (1 Master Flight credit).
- S-MK2-W-1.0-01 — Airport operations knowledge (1 Master Knowledge credit).
How this Activity satisfies each syllabus:
Master Flight Topic 2 — En Route & Approaches (S-MF2-W-1.0-01)
- Fly a complete IFR profile including SID, en route segment, STAR, and approaches in the Bay Area, managing route changes, holds, and diversions. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 10; FAA-H-8083-16B, Ch 1, 2 & 4)
- Demonstrate automation management and FMS programming for jet transport operations, including VNAV, lateral navigation, and mode awareness. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 6)
- Handle abnormal and engine-out scenarios while maintaining IFR standards and stabilized approach criteria. (FAA-H-8083-15B, Ch 7 & 10)
Master Knowledge Topic 2 — Airport Operations (S-MK2-W-1.0-01)
- Conduct a pre-session briefing on KLAS and KSFO airport diagrams, runway/taxiway markings, hot spots, and expected taxi routes to reduce runway incursion risk. (PHAK, Airport Operations; AIM Airport Operations sections)
- Review IFR taxi and departure procedures including runway-specific SIDs, line-up and wait procedures, and low-vis operations at large Class B airports. (AIM Ch 4; FAA-H-8083-16B, Ch 1)
- Debrief arrival and rollout procedures at KSFO, including high-speed exits, crossing runway instructions, and sterile cockpit discipline during taxi-in. (PHAK, Airport Operations; AIM Airport Operations sections)
Completion Standard: All tasks are performed to Instrument Rating ACS (FAA-S-ACS-8C) standards for risk management, aircraft control, and instrument procedures. The Activity is considered complete when the pilot can consistently brief, fly, and debrief the profile to the applicable ACS standard, regardless of time.
