Sea Survival
(WST2)
This open water Survival Systems USA program addresses the risks associated with post aircraft ditching by providing personnel with knowledge and survival skills to disembark a ditched aircraft and survive until rescued.
CONTENT (Academic & Practical)
- Presentation on hazards, equipment, and procedures associated with surface water survival
- Survival psychology
- Surface evacuation from a floating aircraft
- Surface water survival via group and personal hypothermia mitigation (Life raft and immersion suits)
- Search and rescue devices and procedures
- Use of live pyrotechnics
DURATION
Eight (8) Hours
LOCATION
This course is conducted in the Long Island Sound in Groton, CT where participants are subject to New England seasons. In-case of inclement weather this course may be alternatively conducted in our temperature-controlled training environment.
This course may also be conducted by our team traveling to your location and providing all the required curriculum, training equipment, floating platform/boat(s), and coordination with local agencies.
PREREQUISITES
Participants are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of fully taking part in all course activities. Participants are subjected to rigorous physical activity. Depending on the program, this may include swimming, underwater disorientation, righting and/or climbing into a life raft, exposure to cold water, vertical climbing, and jumping from a height into water.
SCHEDULING
Training calendar seats are booked on a first come, first serve basis. Select training date(s) of choice.
ADMINISTRATION
Participants will be required to show valid government ID and complete a Student Registration Form which incorporates an acknowledgement of risk, statement of health, and general liability release for training.
CERTIFICATION
All participants who complete the full program in accordance with the learning and performance objectives receive a Survival Systems USA course completion certificate.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Participants under the age of 18 require parental consent. Participants under the age of 12 may audit the course under the direct supervision of a guardian not involved in training.
