"Making Life and Death Decisions - An Interactive Case Study of a Fatal Helicopter Accident"
Saturday, December 1, 2018 09:30 Arizona

Located at:
Cooley Ballroom, ASU Polytechnic Student Union
5999 S. Backus Mall
Cooley Ballroom
Mesa, AZ 85212

Description:

Join us as we dive deep into one helicopter accident, discuss the tragedy of three lost lives, and help you see that many operational decisions are not black and white choices.

On Dec. 1, at the Arizona State University Polytechnic campus in Mesa, Ariz., Tina Buskirk of the FAA Flight Standards District Office and Jeff Hurd of PHI Air Ambulance will lead an in-depth 90-minute session about a safety-conscious helicopter pilot who died while trying to fly a very noble mission.  We will use an extensive NTSB accident report, photos, animation, and pilot background materials as you weigh the consequences of each operational decision.

Sponsored by the International Helicopter Safety Team, this “Go Local” workshop reviews accidents that happened to good pilots (like you) who often were trying to do great deeds with their helicopters.  Participants will analyze the decision-making processes that can lead to disaster and determine what they can do to avoid falling into similar traps.  What you learn here could save your life.

This free event begins at 9: 30 am, Dec 1, in the Cooley Ballroom on the Mesa campus of Arizona State University Polytechnic.  Plan for speaker and audience discussion and interaction.

Refreshments will be provided - sponsored by IHST!  Join us as we work together for a safer helicopter community.
