Located at:
San Carlos Flight Center
655 Skyway Road
Suite 215
San Carlos, CA 94070

Description:

Pop quiz: What is the new ICAO standard marking for a taxiway approaching a runway? What markings differ between a blast pad and a displaced threshold and what does that indicate to pilots

If it has been awhile since you sat through ground school, you may to join us for a refresher on Airport Signs and Markings. In this safety seminar, we will review the various colors and markings and symbols used on taxiways, runways, parking areas, and areas off-limits to aircraft. Most pilots have at least an operational knowledge of their favorite airports, but travel to new airports can sometimes be jarring. Find out what has changed recently in ICAO standards so that you operate safely at your next new airport. Then look for the changes when they happen at your own airport. You will leave the seminar with a renewed understanding, and probably a few memory aids to take with your on your next flight.

This safety seminar is open to current and aspiring Private Pilots, and will be of particular interest to student pilots and those who are preparing for a flight review.

Randall Walliser is a CFI at San Carlos Flight Center and has been flying since 2011. He holds a commercial pilot's certificate rated in single and multi-engine airplanes. He is a recent graduate of the Western Michigan University College of Aviation, and has also been a competition pilot in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association's annual Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference.
