"Spending the Unexpected Night Out-After a Forced Landing or Backcountry Emergency - Hybrid Event"

Located at:
Truckee Tahoe Airport Conference Room
10356 Truckee Airport Road

Truckee, CA 96161

Description:

What happens when a routine day outside turns into an unplanned night in the elements? The next Fly Safe Seminar at Truckee Tahoe Airport focuses on exactly that moment—the first 24 hours after a forced landing or backcountry emergency.

A lot of survival kits look good…right up until you actually need them. This session breaks down what actually matters when things don’t go as planned: what to prioritize, what to carry, and how to think clearly when conditions are uncertain and time matters. Returning to the Fly Safe stage are wilderness medicine expert, doctor, and local CFII Howard Donner and fellow CFII Jason Miller, creator of The Finer Points. Jason will open the evening with insights from an engine-out landing in the Utah canyon lands, sharing key considerations from the moment things changed in the air. Howard will build on that with practical guidance on post-landing survival and decision-making. Together, they'll share real-world lessons for pilots as well as anyone who ventures into remote terrain.
